DIVINE PATTERNS: Men are seeds

I know that when we hear ‘seed’ as Christians, our minds immediately go to Luke 8:11 where Jesus said: The seed is the Word of God. This is very true because Jesus said so. However, the idea of this article is quite different from the idea Jesus was teaching in the parable of the sower. Just as an object can be used to represent different symbols or truths depending on the context, so the seed in the context of this writing will be ‘Men’.

Moreover, using seed as a typology or representation of men was first used by God in Genesis 3:15, Genesis 12:7, and other places. The writer of the Bible used it too in places like 2 Corinthians 11:22, Galatians 3:16, Hebrews 11:18, etc.

Having established this truth, I need to inform us that the purpose of this piece is to elucidate an important pattern in God, which is that God uses men as seeds and this is consistent throughout scripture. For instance, after the fall of man, God addresses a child who will come from the loins of the woman and called the child — the seed of the woman. This makes an allusion to the person of Christ and just like a seed is planted in the soil, God was planted amid humanity. From there the stealth operation to save humanity was initiated.

Another example is Joseph. God wanted to save the economy of Egypt and that of the world, He planted Joseph like a seed in the same country, and as Joseph grew in the country, moving from Potiphar’s house to the prison and then to the palace. God kept him like a cherished seed and he grew like a giant tree of salvation to save the economy at the right time.

Most times, God is not in a hurry. He always bet on his seeds and men are his seed. Moses was also God’s seed planted in the heart of Egypt and Daniel was planted in Babylon. The list goes on and on; Nehemiah and Esther were sown too. God also plants his seeds to save individuals just like Naomi was also planted in a Moab so that Ruth may be saved.

However, God sometimes launches a straight head-on attack as we see in the story of the young and old prophets (1 Kings 13). But this is rare. So when people say that God can use anyone to get His will done in a place or system, I often say; that God can truly use anyone but He wants to use individuals who are connected to such a place or system. Subsequently, when God says that I am confronting the gods or evil in a land or system, He uses men of that land or men in such system for His confrontation.

In conclusion, this is a divine pattern that we must always remember —

Divinity uses humans to achieve divine purposes in the world of men. You are a seed planted by God in that locality, workplace, family, and country.
