THE LIGHT SHINES IN DARKNESS

Dear Reader,

I bring you a quick word of the Lord and it is very timely for we are at a time of gross darkness. Gross darkness, because the wickedness and the evil that is being perpetrated upon the earth is widespread. We see multiple vices, war, savagery, immorality, killings, and kidnappings (to mention a few) in different parts of the world. The gory and horrific sights are sickening and disturbing.

If you live in Nigeria, there is a palpable tension that has grown in the atmosphere over a few days now. I want to believe this is largely traceable to the planned protests.

This morning while I prayed, I felt the urgency of spirit to deliver this word of God;

1. King Ahab is regarded as the worst king of Israel, yet in his day we had one of the best expressions of the prophetic in Elijah.

2. Lamech, seventh from Adam through Cain became brazen in rebellion and Enoch (also seventh from Adam through Seth) became an epitome of righteous living.

3. In Acts 8 when the persecution raged against the Church, she grew mightily and didn’t sink.

What is constant through all these examples is this; in the day when evil matures, the faithfulness of God requires that good would have also matured, so that good is with adequate capacity to quench the proliferation of evil.

So while we see this gross darkness and are thrown into despair and pessimism, we must attempt to realign our focus to the beaming light of goodness and draw strength therein. Isaiah 60 comes in very handy now.

In conclusion, if you were living in Goshen while Pharaoh burdened you and you had a fore-knowledge about the ministry of Moses; the moment he was born, you would start to count down to the day of your deliverance. That is the posture of heart that the believer must have in this worry-laden season.
